Howard has asked me to put together this small\narticle for the virtual rally programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first thing that comes to mind is that\nat least John doesn\u2019t need to worry about the grass being cut (one year it was\nhurriedly cut the night before, leaving mowed grass and mole hills\neverywhere!). Secondly Howard won\u2019t worry about the key to the toilets for the\ncampers. Finally we will be unaffected by rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
ABO795 (our Ruby), has attended every single one\nof the South Wales Austin Seven Rallies and I see from the rally plaques I have\nthat we started in 1977, the Queen\u2019s Jubilee year, as part of a week long\ncelebration near Caldicot village. So we called it the \u201cCaldicot Castle Rally\u201d.\nIt attracted over 90 entrants but people used their Austin Sevens a lot more\nthen, some of us were 43 years younger and the fact that it was near the Seven\nbridge also helped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rally moved, in 1984, to the Golden Grove\npub in Carmarthenshire for two years, then we had a further two years in two\nlocations on the Gower, before finally settling down in Bryngarw. This year\nmoving to the virtual world!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have stuck all my rally plaques on the side of\na book shelf and all the mugs are on another shelf. I am undecided which of these locations to\nput my computer on for this year\u2019s rally!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Firstly\na warm welcome and thank you to all of you who have made the effort to join us\nfor this venture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\nnever dreamed when I was sending out the entry forms for South Wales Austin\nSeven Clubs 2020 Bryngarw Rally in December and January that it would all be in\nvain. As a club we delayed the decision to cancel the rally, in the vain hope\nthat we would be back to normal by June. “The best laid plans of mice and\nmen\u201d and like all the other Classic\/Vintage Car Clubs in the UK we realised\nmatters were beyond our control. This is the first time since 1978 that South\nWales Austin Seven Club has failed to hold a conventional Rally. Perhaps this\nnew venture is the future of the annual rally for car clubs? With this new way\nof doing things at least we do not have to worry about rain on Rally Day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although\nI am writing this as South Wales Austin Seven Club’s Rally Secretary, I must\nstress that our thanks for organising Ffotogarw must go to our club Editor,\nHoward Wright who came up with idea. This \u201cvirtual rally\u201d may, hopefully,\nencourage many of our club members who cannot attend Bryngarw to support us\nwith a photograph of their Austin in whatever its current condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lastly\na big thank you to all non SWA7C members who have joined us in this new\nventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks\nfor visiting our Ffotogarw webpage. We\njust couldn\u2019t have a real Bryngarw this year so here\u2019s the next best\nthing. A chance to \u201cvirtually\u201d view cars\nthat would have been at the real rally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\u2019ve\ndisplayed these in the order that they were received and Pat and Stuart\nPhillips have worked wonders with some web wizardry to create the slide show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A\nvery big thank you to all the entrants and particularly those non-members who\nhave been regular visitors to Bryngarw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
